Guatamala Spring Break Clowns

Patch Adams MD, Fabrica de Sonrisas, and other humanitarian clowns-performers-activists in Guatemala. They explored improvisational play in hospitals, befriend clowns from all over the world, and developed clown skills in daily workshops.

Clowns Without Borders (CWB) Receives 2014 Prize of Hope Award
On Saturday, June 28th, CWB was awarded the 2014 Prize of Hope in Blue Lake, CA. State Assemblyman Wesley Chesbro presented the award to representatives of CWB on behalf of Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre and the Danish Institute for Popular Theatre, originators of the Prize of Hope. October 17th -18th, 2014, in the Meyer Children’s Hospital of Florence, Italy.First International Conference on Pediatric Hospital Clowning: Reflections on Research and Training, October 17-18, 2014, Meyer Childtren's Hospital of Florence, Italy. This conference aims to create an opportunity for the presentation and discussion amongst Hospital Clowning researchers and trainers regarding data and reflections on the clowns’ work in pediatric settings. The deadline for the receipt of proposals is June 8, 2014.

Clowns from around the world returned to Iquitos, Peru, near the headwaters of the Amazon River for the Belen Festival, an intensive experience in collaborative grassroots community activism. Sponsored by Gesundheit! Institute and Bolaroja Clown Doctors of Peru!

Guatamala Spring Break Clowns

An intense week that explored ways to care in hospitals, nursing homes, endangered communities, public parks and streets; and we will learn how to bring joy and imagine a desirable society using clowning, performance, music, humor and play. This experience changed you lives!

The trip was for both beginning clowns and performers, and the more advanced ones. All were invited to open our hearts and celebrate love and change! Everyone was welcomed, no experience necessary.

Gesundheit! Institute Annual Clown Trip to Ecuador, January, 2013

Clowns in Ecuador

Come clowning, loving, playing, laughing at the equator line, where the hemispheres of care and activism join together to re-design our caring characters and a new desirable society! Patch Adams MD, Susan Parenti and the clowns-performers-composers of the School for Designing a Society invite you to join them in the annual clown trip to Ecuador, for daily clowning in hospitals, clinics and streets, clown-skill-building workshops, and red noses amazement!

Columbia 2012 Encuentro, Clowns Without Borders (CWB)

Tim Cunningham works with Barnaby King and the Pasos providing teacher trainings and workshops. The collaborative team create a touring performance with local children and from it, they develop a sustainable training program for the next three years. The team will also consist of hospital clowns from Manizales and a social worker from Bogotá. This project marks new directions for CWB as they work towards bringing the joy and developing systems so that the "joy can sustain itself everywhere we go." Belen Project, August 8-18, 2012, Peru . . . After the Flood . . . Gesundheit! Institute and Bola-Roja Clown Doctors of Peru brought together 106 clowns from 10 counties to clown in Belen which had been flooded by the Amazon River from February to May. Read their story here.
